The 25th Annual Sponsored Walk was held in Roundhay Park on Sunday 1st
September. What promised to be a reasonably sunny day turned into a
decidedly cool one - but quite good weather for a walk around the park.
The numbers were slightly down this year, but a crowd of a few hundred
sampled the Take Heart goodies in the Mansion Education Centre then, after Dr
Greg Reynolds started the walk, took a stroll around the beautiful park and
lake.
Many thanks to the Trustees and volunteers who put so much work into the
event - and a special thank you to DC Plumbing & Building Maintenance who
stepped in to supply the bottled water and sweets for children on the walk.
One fact of note on the walk - you may recall that last year, we had our
youngest ever ‘walker’, 12 day old Ellsie Grace Mouatt. Well, she was back
again this year - and properly walking. Her mum says that she may be the
only person who will spend the whole of her life talking part in Take Heart
Sponsored Walks!.
