CHAIRMAN'S
COMMENTS
Dear
Friends
Once again our walk at Roundhay Park was blessed with very pleasant
weather, and hopefully it will again bring in some very nice amounts
to help your charity continue work.
With this in mind I would like thank all our walkers for making
the effort, and all our sponsors for there generosity and also
all those who came along and visited our stalls.
A member in conversation said he was surprised that we did not
have a much larger turnout of walkers,my reply was to say our
members and supporters make so many different efforts and generous
donations over the year, and of coarse it is always down to choice,be
it through our Christmas draw, change gang boxes or many other
form of donation such as anniversary, sadly in memory, or thank
you for all the care received whilst in the Yorkshire Heart Centre, and
of coarse efforts range from sponsored haircuts,to slimming etc
and more very challenging physical efforts.
As always its down to individual choice and although we work tirelessly
to raise funds we never bombard our members and supporters with
fund raising literature just make people aware of the work of
Take heart and tell them how we spend the funds they have helped
us to raise.
I am sure you will agree that the charity has made major contributions
in helping to make The Yorkshire Heart Centre have very nice surroundings
and comfort, pleasant working conditions for staff and where possible
the latest up to date equipment.
This of course has helped the centre to become renowned for its
work as one of the finest in the UK and indeed Europe and a jewel
in the crown of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS trust.

Treasurer's
Trove
It`s
that time of year again having just had the sponsored walk you
will now have received the Christmas Draw tickets. I know it`s
difficult at times to obtain sponsors for the walk and then go
round again selling tickets but these are two of our main fund
raisers and to continue our work we need the money.
We
are very grateful for the effort you put in firstly on the walk
by obtaining sponsors and then completing the walk, and secondly
selling the Christmas draw tickets. The prizes this year are once
again very good but the first prize is even better. Due to some
generous sponsorship we are able to increase the first prize to
£500, which I am sure will make someones Christmas very
happy.
Internet payments are continuing to come in but not everyone is
putting what the donation is for. I wish they did as it would
make it easier to complete the donations listings but this is
really a minor blip We have changed the system slightly in as
much as we are now receiving our internet payments via Pay pal.
We used to use charity choice in the past but I think paypal has
the edge in it`s delivery.
I will try to thank everyone who did the walk and acknowledge
their donations. Occasionally it is not possible for some reason
or another so can I say a big thank to you all.

Treasurer

CYCLE
RIDE
Dr
Rob Sapsford, Consultant Cardiologist with the Leeds NHS Trust
took part in the Caledonian Etape Cycle Ride on 17th May 2010
over the hills of Pitlochry.

He
travelled 618 miles from Doncaster and back (by car!!) to cycle

very creditable 1545th out of 4500 entries.
In
the 'King of the Mountain' section of the race (to the summit),
he finished in a wonderful 111th place.
Through
very generous sponsorship and great personal effort, he raised

The
Ticker Trophy In Aid Of Take Heart
Once
again I was invited to go along to Wike Ridge Golf Club and meet
members of the Par 3 Club and be presented with a cheque for the
sum of £455.00 being the result of funds raised from the
annual Ticker Trophy Golf Day.

This
event has been held every year since 2006 and was introduced by
two Wike Ridge ladies, Arlene Chambers and Sybil Pillar, both
having used the services of The Yorkshire Heart Centre and were
both so very impressed by the facilities provided by the .Take
Heart Charity.
Nearly
every one at Wike Ridge knows some one who have used the facilities
at the Yorkshire Heart Centre and will continue to support Take
Heart.
To
date the club have raised £2355.00 and a further sum of
£1116 was raised by Arlene during her year as lady captain
and she chose Take Heart to benefit.
Following
the warm welcome I was given and the presentation it was my pleasure
to say a big thank you and tell the members about our current
projects.
