Treasurer's Trove

We are at that time of the year when the monies from the sponsored walk are starting to come into me for banking. I am trying to acknowledge all the donations individually but as you can imagine there are quite a lot coming in.
Can I therefore, say a big thank you to all those who did the walk on our behalf.
I should imagine that its not easy in the present climate to obtain sponsorship so thank you for all the effort you have put in to do so.
The depression has hit the charity but not as badly as I thought it would so at the moment we are ticking over very nicely. Over the past few weeks we have had two weekend collections at IKEA and despite the recession we have collected £703.58 and £587.66 respectively – so a big thank you to those who stood collecting for us.
Many of you won`t know this but one of the jobs I do is to compile the donations list. It`s logic really as I list all the money and reasons for the donations when I bank each week. I have experienced some problems of late in as much as I have not been able to read the writing on some of the letters and it`s not always easy to obtain the right information and names, so if I have made an error on the list in the past – I do apologise.

A J McLean,
Treasurer

CHAIRMAN'S COMMENTS

Dear Friends

I would like to start my comments by thanking everyone who supported our Sponsored Walk, and our week promoting our 20th Anniversary at the LGI, full reports inside. You will now have received our Christmas Draw Tickets and I would ask you wherever possible to support this fundraising effort.
Following our AGM when we re-elected Trustees, our treasure said he would stand for a further two years. But indicated that following his term of office 2009-2011 he would like to stand down from this position with this in mind the charity needs to seek a replacement for the end of his term. The Post would require some one with book keeping skills and computer skills and of course time. If there is anyone among our membership who has these skills and would like details of what is entailed please get in contact with me at the address on the front of this newsletter. Of course it goes without saying the applicants must have impregnable character references for honesty and trust.
Further to this the trustees are to be asked to draw up a plan to ensure continuity of operation of the charity after all many of our Trustees are not getting any younger, including myself.
To close my comments I would like to add that in my work I meet so many patients, relatives and staff who cannot praise enough the benefits they have enjoyed provided by Take Heart. Be proud to belong to this YOUR WONDERFUL CHARITY

Colin Pullan MBE
Chairman
