Treasurer's
Trove
The
accounts have now been audited and will be returned to me
shortly, then all will be revealed at the AGM which will on
us before you can say Jack Robinson.
I
would like to use this Treasurer`s Trove to thank all those
people who donate direct to the charity on a monthly, quarterly,
or yearly basis. It is so very good of them to support the
charity in this way. I would also like to thank those people
who send donations to us via the internet. I must admit I
do have problems downloading them but I feel that this is
a problem of age and the fact that technology is overtaking
me. It`s lovely isn`t it to see how the little ones use computers.
I`m envious in some ways but there again, they weren`t
around to see the first man on the moon, or the launch of
Concorde and Hovercrafts!
Now
back to the accounts. I can tell you that they are in a good
state and as a result, we have quite a few projects in the
pipeline. Come to the AGM and see how we are doing especially
in the recession.
A
J McLean,
Treasurer

CHAIRMAN'S COMMENTS
Dear
Friends
I do hope like me that the start of the light evenings and
a sign of spring makes you feel good and of course make a
difference to your general well being.
Which brings me to your Charity over the last year made a
tremendous difference to so many areas of the Yorkshire Heart
Centre. I know that we keep you informed on what we do through
our Newsletter but why don’t you come along to our Annual
General Meeting and hear first hand about the Charities work
over the year and also how the Yorkshire Heart Centre performed
in that time.
Along with all Trustees we would love to see you and a well
filled hall is so much appreciated, so please make the effort.
Enclosed with this months newsletter are full details of the
AGM and you will see that is election time for some of the
Trustees. We would love to hear from anyone who might be interested
in becoming a trustee and working to keep your Charity one
of the best.
So don’t forget 7th June. Hope to see you there.
To finish my report, following the recent Cabaret I would
like to say a big thank you to all involved in making this
a very memorable and enjoyable evening. A full report with
photographs is on the link on this page.
Colin
Pullan MBE
Chairman

DEARNE
VALLEY COLLEGE

The
college had
a fund raising effort by the staff and students to buy a scooter
for student Joseph Baker, a skill base student at the Wath
Based College. Joseph suffers from a Congenital Heart Condition
which limits his everyday mobility.
The whole college became involved in fund raising through
various events and not only raised enough to buy the scooter
at a cost of £1000.00 but had a surplus of £500.00.
The College asked Josephs Mum to choose a Charity of her choice
to donate the surplus and Vicky chose Take Heart in appreciation
of the many weeks spent in the relative’s rooms and
also in appreciation of the care by staff at the Yorkshire
Heart Centre.
Going along to say Thank You and explain about our Charities
work, it became an important lesson for the students when
they learned that the Charity was operated entirely on a voluntary
basis. All who were learning life skills were taught what
you can achieve, without payment, for the benefit of so many.
We wish Joseph and his mum Vicky all the very best for the
future and once again a big thank you to the Dearne Valley
College.
Colin Pullan MBE

LETTER
IN THE YORKSHIRE EVENING POST
"I
recently had open-heart surgery which meant a stay in hospital
in Ward 14 and must praise all members of staff - and I mean
all members of staff, not just front line but everybody who
made my stay excellent.
What I did notice that the ward seem to rely on the good work
of a charity called Take Heart for a lot of the things for
the benefit of patients like free bed side TV and new beds.
I cannot name them all but what I can say is thanks to all
staff who helped me. But I have one moan - does the air conditioning
have to be blowing out cold air 24/7? It seemed to be blowing
on me all night long, making sleep hard to achieve.
In conclusion, if you see anybody collecting for Take Heart
please give what you can because every little will help this
good cause.
Mr
S E Bilbey, Gipton, Leeds."
