Treasurer's
Trove
Is
the Credit Crunch affecting us – well yes it is. It is showing
in the amount of our donations but this is to be expected. People
have other priorities at the moment specially those who have been
made redundant – it is a very hard time.
Over the past year or so we have been receiving donations via the
internet and it is amazing how quickly this method of payment has
grown. I still have little problems with it as I`m not a computer
whiz kid however we are getting there slowly. There is no problem
with the donation getting to the right account it is mainly the
reason for the donation that we have trouble with, but we think
we have solved the problem so just bear with us.
Its funny how methods of payments are being changed, I was in a
store the other day with a cheque book in my hand when I was told
by one of the salesmen that I couldn`t pay by that method, fortunately
we had a business account so I was able to buy now and pay later.
Personally I can`t see how this is a better method, I never asked
if I could pay cash. I don`t think you can pay by cheque at M &
S. I think this is to stop theft and fraud. Makes you wonder if
it will be worth having a cheque book soon, or cash. Everyone will
have to pay by card which in my opinion seem to be the easiest item
to copy.
Sorry we didn`t see a lot of you at the AGM in June, but we will
be sending out a financial report in the near future.
A
J McLean,
Treasurer

CHAIRMAN'S
COMMENTS
Dear
Friends
As you will gather it is that time of the year again when we send
out our sponsor forms and especially this year your efforts to take
part would be greatly appreciated so do please try to take part.
This year of course is quite special as we are celebrating our 20th
Birthday and to promote our Charity we are to have a stand on the
week commencing Monday 10th August right through to Sunday 16th
August every day except Wednesday 12th August. The stand is situated
in the Reception Area of the Jubilee Wing the stand will be manned
by Trustees and volunteers so if you are in Leeds or fancy a trip
to Leeds why not pop in and say Hello. Of course on the Saturday
it is our Coffee Morning in the Seminar Room 10-00am to 12-00am
so come along and have a cuppa and cake with us.
Starting that week we are running a Celebration Draw with outstanding
prizes so come along and have a ticket. First prize is a hand made
rocking horse worth £1500.00, second prize is a theatre weekend
in London and the third prize an indoor golfing session at the Golf
Café Bar Leeds.
Our Roof Garden has just been decorated and you might like to come
along and have a look, the garden is open weather permitting and
is extremely popular with patients, relatives and staff with panoramic
views over Leeds (F Floor)
To close my comments I would like to take the opportunity to thank
everyone for supporting Take Heart over the last 20 years, please
carry on helping the Charity make so much difference throughout
the Yorkshire Heart Centre.

Take
Heart Annual Trip Sunday 14th July
Our destination this year was Llandudno North Wales. Four coaches
picked up Take Heart members and friends at various places, Pudsey
Bradford Leeds and Morley.
In total approximately180 people enjoyed a pleasant journey to Llandudno
and stopped for a coffee break at the Chester Motorway services
where we all meet up. Luckily Llandudno bus station is only a short
walk from the town centre and promenade and I guess people were
beginning to feel a little hungry and when off to find their chosen
place to eat.
Llandudno is quite famous for its pier which is easily reached by
strolling along the promenade. There is always plenty of activity
on the pier and it offers good views of the Great Orme which I understand
the top was visited by some of our colleagues, I don’t know
whether they walked up or took the cable car either way, I am sure
they would be rewarded with some lovely views
I am told that some of our party enjoyed a traditional afternoon
tea before returning to the coach station. Soon we were homeward
bound having had a lovely day out and we would like to thank Maureen
and Arthur for arranging our day out and ordering sunshine. I guess
we are all looking forward to next years visit to the East Coast
at Whitby 2010.

WARD
19
This ward is now the admissions ward for the Yorkshire Heart Centre
and is extremely busy.
Take Heart have funded projects of a new waiting room and day room
and most of the work is nearing completion.
As most of the ECG machines were in constant use and at times staff
were waiting for a machine, so Take Heart have donated a new ECG
machine which has made a great difference. I was asked by all the
staff to say a big thank you.

USED
POSTAGE STAMPS
Many of you will know of Glenys Hincliffe, one of our members, who
for quite a long time now has sold stamps on eBay and raised many
hundreds of pounds for Take Heart. Due to circumstances beyond her
control, Glenys is no longer able to do this and so I must ask you
not to send any more stamps into the office.
If there is anyone who would like to continue this form of fundraising
either on eBay or any other way, please get in touch with me at
the office and I will pass your details along to Glenys who will
be happy to give advice where possible.
In the meantime, our grateful thanks to Glenys for all she has done
for our charity

EVERY
LITTLE HELPS
The residents of Barnfield Housing Association, Dewsbury enjoy fundraising
and then choosing charities to benefit from their efforts. Recently
I was asked to go along to receive a cheque for £150-00 which
was half of their recent collection of £300-00 the other £150-00
having been given to the Cardiac Unit at Dewsbury Hospital.

The photo shows Joan Crabtree, the Scheme Manager together with
myself receiving the cheque from Janet Fahey and her husband, Paul
(both members if Take Heart)
My grateful thanks to the residents for their warm welcome-and coffee-
and for their kind support of our charity which is so very much
appreciated. Keep up the good work folks.
Pat Harrison, Secretary

Dear Sir
Our grandson Aaron aged 8 being a keen walker decided he would like
to do the Tree Peaks Walk, so granddad Michael who has done it several
times suggested we do it as a family, Aaron, his mum Fran and myself
managed to do two out of the three whilst Granddad and Aarons dad,
Andrew completed all three in eight and half hours taking forty
five minutes off their previous best time.
As it is Michaels 60th birthday this year and also the eleventh
anniversary of his heart by pass operation at the LGI we thought
it would be nice to raise some money for Take Heart, so our family,
friends and work colleagues sponsored us.
Enclosed is a Cheque for £65-00. We look forward to supporting
Take Heart in the future, as we have several times before.

Yours faithfully
