The tragic death of Dr George Ballard, consultant cardiologist at the Yorkshire Heart Centre in LGI has shocked everyone in the department. 41 year old Dr Ballard died on Sunday 2nd August in a cycling accident in the Yorkshire Dales. He leaves a wife and two children. Dr Ballard specialised in adult congenital heart complaints. Colleagues described him as ‘funny and brilliant and said he would be remembered

for his extraordinary professional talent, sense of humour and unfailing commitment to his patients.’ His funeral in Skipton was attended by hundreds of members of family, colleagues and friends, showing the esteem in which he was held. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy go to his wife and family.
