It was a pleasure to see so many of you at our Harvest celebration last week.  May I also thank all of you who donated tins to St George’s Crypt.  The staff have sent us a ‘thank you’ card, which is displayed in the School Office.

Jaya Bains-Williams in Reception has lost her coat.  Will you all please check your child’s coat to ensure that they all have their own.  Jaya’s coat is named at the back of the hood and also in the pocket.  It would be helpful if all coats were be labelled clearly, either in the hood or side pocket.

When dropping children off in the morning via the back gate, please ensure your child is supervised when crossing the small back road.  If they have forgotten something and need to go back over the road, they must be crossed over by you.  There is now more traffic going to the dentist, so we are concerned for the children’s safety.

Blues Choir

The singing teacher, Miss Sarah Estill, is starting a new club for Years 5 and 6, as we have talented singers who might wish to learn new ways of singing.  This will start after half term, on Monday morning, 3 November, between 8.15 and 9.00am, which is the first day back.  Anyone who is interested is invited to the first session in Mrs Lloyd-Brown’s room, when a song will be taught; auditions will take place during the second session, after which a maximum of 15 children will be selected.  The introductory and second session will be complimentary.  The cost of the club is likely to be approximately £2.00 per week, which will be invoiced as a whole for the year.

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF GOVERNORS
I am asked, from time to time, how one becomes a school governor. There are times when current governors retire following their term of office, and places then become available. Richmond House is governed by a constitution which limits the number of parents who can become governors. However, if you are interested in being considered as a governor at Richmond House School, please contact Mrs Young who will then advise you of the procedures involved.

SPORT

Inter House Cross Country

All pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 will be taking part in the Inter House Cross Country race on Wednesday 22 October, so please could parents ensure that all pupils have their PE kit (green shorts, white PE shirt, short white socks), tracksuit and spikes/trainers in school.  This race will take place on the school field and is a team event, with the winning House being the one with the lowest average position.

Netball Match Result

Our netball teams played Froebelian on Wednesday.  The Under 11’s match, which was their first Leeds Schools’ League match of the season, was extremely exciting and, at the end of the third quarter, the score was 6-6.  However, excellent shooting in the final quarter gave us a 10-7 win.  Our under 10’s also played extremely well and won 9-1.  Well done!

Next Matches

The U10 and U11 netball matches against the Grammar School at Leeds have been rearranged and will now be on 11 November 2008, at home, starting at 4.00pm (instead of 4 November).

On 12 November, there are U10 and U11 netball matches against Westville House away, and U10 and U11 football matches against Ghyll Royd.

The next Leeds Schools’ Cross Country race is on Saturday 8 November at Middleton Park.
