Kevin wrote to us:“On August 4th I will be taking part in the Rothwell park 5k run to raise money for "Takeheart".In April last year I was admitted to LGI after feeling unwell for some time and short of breath. i was admiitted first to the respiratory unit in LGI and then the Cardiac special care unit at St James.I was suffering from organ failure and pneumonia. It was quickly diagnosed that i had problems with my Aortic valve.I was tranferred to LGI and had a balloon inserted in my valve to open it up and give me relief. In August I was fitted with a TAVI and after a couple of days was sent home to recover. During my two stays in LGI in various wards in the cardiac unit, i was overwhelmed by the dedication and care I received from every member of staff. To this end I decided that hopefully when I was fitter I would like to do something. On one of my subsequent visits to the clinic one of the TAVI nurses (Helen) suggested I downloaded an app "Couch to 5k", which I did and have been following the programme.I am currently on £500 plus on my giving page, and I hope that will rise.Whatever I raise It will be a small price to pay for what the unit did for me. I will be forever grateful. My giving page is as follows.https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/KevinBestThank youKevin Best”Many thanks for your kind words Kevin and for your fundraising effort. You have already raised 6 times more than your target and you can be assured that every penny will make a difference to patients in the Yorkshire Heart Centre.Good luck.
