The Charity of the Yorkshire Heart Centre
Kevin wrote to us: On August 4th I will be taking part in the Rothwell park 5k run to raise money for "Takeheart". In April last year I was admitted to LGI after feeling unwell for some time and short of breath. i was admiitted first to the respiratory unit in LGI and then the Cardiac special care unit at St James. I was suffering from organ failure and pneumonia. It was quickly diagnosed that i had problems with my Aortic valve. I was tranferred to LGI and had a balloon inserted in my valve to open it up and give me relief. In August I was fitted with a TAVI and after a couple of days was sent home to recover. During my two stays in LGI in various wards in the cardiac unit, i was overwhelmed by the dedication and care I received from every member of staff. To this end I decided that hopefully when I was fitter I would like to do something. On one of my subsequent visits to the clinic one of the TAVI nurses (Helen) suggested I downloaded an app "Couch to 5k", which I did and have been following the programme. I am currently on £500 plus on my giving page, and I hope that will rise. Whatever I raise It will be a small price to pay for what the unit did for me. I will be forever grateful. My giving page is as follows. Thank you Kevin Best” Many thanks for your kind words Kevin and for your fundraising effort. You have already raised 6 times more than your target and you can be assured that every penny will make a difference to patients in the Yorkshire Heart Centre. Good luck.
