...Making life better for Yorkshire Heart Patients

A Thursday evening in March saw hundreds of people make their way to the beautiful Alea Casino in Leeds docklands. Nothing unusual for such a popular nightime venue - but on this particular evening, these people were making their way to the upstairs theatre for a Cabaret Evening in aid of our wonderful Take Heart Charity.

A host of musical and comedy acts provided hours of entertainment and everyone who appeared on stage, gave their services voluntarily. Even the Alea Casino provided the venue completely free of charge.

Sir Jimmy Savile was in the audience, dressed in his usual conservative fashion..... and he drew the prize draw after the interval. Asking the audience if they had any preference for colour and number of tickets brought forth howls of laughter. When a special gift of champagne and fine wine was auctioned off and didn't achieve more than £75, Sir Jimmy stepped in and won the hamper for a magnificient £500.00. Thanks for fixing it Jim!

Colin Pullan MBE, the chairman of Take Heart and Greg Reynolds, Consultant Cardiologist from LGI both went on stage to thank the artistes, the Casino and those who organised the event which, at the time of writing, has raised £2718.00 for the charity.

The pictures below show the happy event.
